What is Bill Phillips Camp? Each summer we have a special 3-day camp at my Fitness Center in Colorado. At camp, I lead a small group of people from all walks of life, through an experience called “Transformation Camp.” People have come from all over North America and from the furthest away corners of the world to attend. Doctors and lawyers, merchants and marines, moms and dads, college students and retired university professors… all have come to Transformation Camp with one goal in mind: Get Healthy… for LIFE! And that is what hundreds of attendees have gone on to do! We just finished going through all the before and after pictures and stories from our 2015 Challenge. WOW! I want to congratulate everyone who started and finished — there are so many great transformations and inspiring stories from this round. Some of you have continued to build on your previous success and momentum and others have done a complete turn around and gotten back on track. I encourage everyone who participated in the 2015 Challenge to keep going strong and continue what you have started. I say it often, and it’s completely true, everybody wins in this game because the ultimate prize is having control of your body and getting your health back! Congratulations! Our Contest Winner…
I’m happy and excited to congratulate Steve Dobbs for winning the 2015 Bill Phillips Challenge! Steve rebuilt his body and renewed his health at age 51. He lost more than 27 lbs. of bodyfat and gained at least a solid 8 lbs. of muscle in just 12 weeks. He started with his before picture on September 28 and took his after photo and measurements 12 weeks later on December 20, 2015. Steve followed my Back to FIT Program on Bodybuilding.com/BillPhillips and put his heart and soul into each workout. Like myself, Steve had been in top shape before but adversity and life got in the way and he found himself looking and feeling old and tired. It’s incredible to see how much younger and stronger he became in just 12 weeks. Now Steve has set new goals and continues to improve, which is great because he just won an all expenses paid dream vacation for two to Maui where he can have fun in the sun and be proud of his renewed body for life. Steve Dobbs 12 Week Bill Phillips Challenge Success Story
Life is always full of challenges, which can also present opportunities. Over the past 3 years I’ve had my share of both! In 2013, I left a successful job in Oklahoma to move across states to be closer to family. I joined a small company but after only 9 months the company did not survive and I found myself without a job. I started a consulting business which meant very long work hours and unhealthy eating habits. I also told myself that “I had no time to exercise.” After nearly a year of this routine I found myself out of shape with an embarrassing “Baby Buddha Belly.”
After deciding I needed to get back into shape, I looked up an old friend – Bill Phillips. I’d never met Bill but he has been part of my life for the past 16 years. You see, I had successfully completed a Body-for-LIFE challenge in 1999. I was the 4-Week Sprint Champion and finished in the top 10 in my category. When I looked up Bill the first thing I found was news about his knee surgeries and his subsequent transformation. After reading Bill’s story, I realized that I was in a very similar situation. I immediately knew I could do this AGAIN….even at the age of 51. I once again eagerly accepted Bill’s challenge to get back into shape.
I cut out Bill’s own before and after pictures and envisioned myself making a change like that. I visualized it and focused my mind. Bill said, “If you’ve done it before, you can do it again.” It was time to take my BEFORE pictures. I was so embarrassed that I didn’t want anyone to take my picture, so I went out and bought a tripod and remote. These before pictures were even more embarrassing than I thought they would be, however they did provide a lot of motivation.
I studied Bill’s Back to FIT program online. I knew that Bill had a life time of fitness and nutrition experience and all I needed to do was to “follow the directions.” I was amazed at my final transformation and for the first time I was ready to show people my BEFORE pictures….only because it was next to my AFTER pictures.
After looking at my pictures of my first transformation at age 35 that were side by side to this transformation, my daughter gave me the best compliment by saying, “Dad, you look better than you did 16 years ago.”
At age 51, I’m now healthier, inside and out. I have a nutrition and exercise program that I can follow for the rest of my LIFE. I’m getting married to a wonderful woman in six months and I’m ready for what new opportunities await me.
For anyone who might read this and be in a similar situation that I was –that even Bill Phillips was in — my heartfelt advice is don’t let age stop you from getting in the best shape of your life!
Who else wants to lose 40 lbs of bodyfat while gaining energy and strength?
Some of you know my job used to be writing books and magazines and running a pretty big supplement business. I worked behind a desk most of the time and it had gotten to the point where I hardly ever got to do what I loved which is working directly with people and helping them transform their body and life. Today, working with people is almost all I do and I couldn’t be happier and more fulfilled. Through our transformation camps at my center in Colorado, we meet people (folks fly to us from all around the world) and educate them and motivate them. They learn how to take back control of their health. It’s powerful. And it is ALWAYS inspiring… and even stunning to see how much people can change. I never get tired of it and always get fired up when I see people succeed. Here’s an example…
The man in these photos is Steve Kracus. He’s 48 years of age, a husband, a father, and a computer engineer who also plays lead guitar in a local rock band in Ohio. Steve is humble and he isn’t one to brag, at all. So I want to brag for him a bit… this guy is changing his body and life right before my eyes. He has worked with great effort and determination to get rid of more than 40 lbs of bodyfat while he has gained a lot of solid muscle since he first came to transformation camp. He has literally made himself ten years younger physiologically. He is changing his body type completely… becoming a muscular athlete even though he started out not long ago as an average, aging American man. He is not just ‘losing weight’ — he is replacing fat with muscle and reshaping his body… and he is doing this in his late 40s. His heart health has improved even more than his body! The guy is going to be in the best shape of his life by the time he hits 50 and even then there is no stopping his improvement.
If you are in ‘before photo’ condition now, my advice is to BE LIKE STEVE. And by that I mean, start now to renew your body and life… and don’t give up! You can rebuild yourself… YOU REALLY CAN! Start by making the resolute decision to change. Take a before photo. Set an inspiring and specific goal of where you want to be in 12 weeks and 12 months. Start an intelligent and proven plan which includes balanced and healthy eating, complete nutrition, as well as strength training and aerobic exercise. Then connect with other good, positive people who are also making healthy changes so you can benefit from mutual and powerful support, encouragement, and accountability. Keep in mind that your healthy changes will inspire others to start getting fit too. And finally, never underestimate the change you can make; never underestimate the difference you can make. You have the ability to change and no one can take that away from you. You CAN do it, I promise!

Bill Phillips Birthday — 51 Years Young Today
Very happy and grateful to become 51 years young today! I was putting together some snapshots that show a quick reflection of my life today and I thought I would share it here with my blog readers.
I’m telling you, with fitness as a consistent part of your lifestyle you don’t have to look bad, feel bad, and become overweight and unhealthy as you age. With just a half hour of exercise a day, and relatively healthy eating most of the time (and taking my vitamins and creatine) I stay at about 8.5% body fat and my muscles are almost as strong as they were 15 years ago. I can’t do everything I could when I was much younger, but I can do a lot and I am grateful for that. My doctor says that fitness has kept my heart health excellent and that is a benefit of working out I really value these days.
I am so lucky to be married to a beautiful and smart woman…Maria is my best friend and love of my life. Her and I have both been through health transformations of our own a few years ago. We know what it’s like to be out of shape which makes being fit feel that much better. Maria and I get to do the work we love — helping others rebuild their bodies and renew their lives at our Transformation Fitness Center here in Colorado. We keep work balance though — we take plenty of days off to travel and enjoy life and our time together.
Life isn’t perfect of course… but it is very good and I feel so lucky to have made it to 51 years and to still be going strong. Thank you so much to all the friends who come to our Camps and who allow us to be a part of your lives. Planning overrides Procrastination
What I’ve discovered is that one of the reasons people put off, procrastinate, and postpone is simply because they’re not prepared. Quite often, that’s what it comes down to. And while the stereotypical advice, “Stop Procrastinating!” certainly has merit and may be offered with the best of intentions, the solution is conspicuously absent. How do you stop procrastinating? How do you “Just do it!”? Procrastination is a side effect of a lack of preparation and planning. By “preparation,” I mean gathering the essential information and acquiring the knowledge you need to accomplish your goals. And by “planning” I mean deciding how and when you will apply the information you’ve acquired. When you are prepared, and you have a plan, you will not procrastinate.
